pasta manchurian recipe | manchurian chilli pasta | indo chinese pasta with detailed photo and video recipe. perhaps one of the interesting and innovative indo chinese recipes prepared using pasta and chinese sauces. it is basically a fusion recipe with pasta from italian cuisine exploring indian and chinese cuisine. it is an ideal party starter or appetiser which can be prepared as a side to other indo chinse recipes like fried rice, hakka noodles or schezwan recipes.

we all know how popular desi pasta recipes are. perhaps, it is more widely prepared compared to the traditional cheese-based pasta recipe. the popularity of desi pasta has inspired me to try other popular indian cuisines. one such versatile cuisine is indo chinese and pasta recipes easily fit into it. basically, i have combined the 2 popular manchurian and chilli variants with the penne pasta kernels for this recipe. thus making it one of the exciting indo chinese recipes. moreover, when compared to the traditional gobi manchurian or any meat-based chilli recipes, which requires a lot of preparation and planning, this recipe does not. the pasta kernels are ready to use as we get from a store with the only step of preparing the sauces for it. therefore, you should certainly try it once and enjoy it with friends and family.
furthermore, some more additional tips, suggestions and variants to the pasta manchurian recipe. firstly, i have used penne pasta which is ideal for this manchurian recipe, but you can also use other types of pasta variants. you can use tubular pasta, strand pasta, shaped pasta, ribbon pasta and even shaped pasta. secondly, in addition to pasta kernels, you may add other hero ingredients like paneer, gobi and even a choice of meat. do not overpower them as you would like to keep it simple though. lastly, i personally prefer to prepare a saucy or gravy based manchurian or chilli recipe. hence i have prepared the same way in this recipe too. however, you may also prepare it as a dry variant as an ideal party starter.

Pasta Chilli Manchurian Recipe - Indo Chinese Pasta | Manchurian Pasta
Ingredients
- 1½ cup pasta
- ¾ cup maida
- ½ cup corn flour
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- ½ tsp salt
- water, for batter
- oil, for frying
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 chilli, finely chopped
- 2 clove garlic, finely chopped
- 1 inch ginger, chopped
- ½ onion, finely chopped
- ½ capsicum, chopped
- 2 tbsp tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp pepper powder
- ½ tsp chilli powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp corn flour
- 4 tbsp cabbage, shredded
- ½ carrot, shredded
- 2 tbsp spring onion, chopped
Instructions
- firstly, to boil the pasta, in a large vessel take enough water and add 1 tsp salt. get to a boil.
- once the water boils, add 1½ cup pasta and boil for 3 minutes.
- cook until the pasta is al dente. make sure to check the package instruction to know the cooking time.
- drain off the water and rinse with cold water.
- now in a large bowl take ¾ cup maida, ½ cup corn flour, 1 tsp chilli powder and ½ tsp salt.
- prepare a smooth lump free batter adding water as required.
- add the boiled pasta into the batter and coat well.
- deep fry in hot oil, making sure the flame is medium.
- fry until the pasta turns golden and crisp.
- drain off the pasta and keep aside.
- in a large wok, heat 2 tbsp oil. add 2 chilli, 2 clove garlic, 1 inch ginger and saute well.
- add ½ onion, ½ capsicum and stir fry on high flame.
- now add 2 tbsp tomato sauce, 2 tbsp vinegar, 2 tsp soy sauce, ½ tsp pepper powder, ½ tsp chilli powder and ¼ tsp salt.
- mix well making sure the sauces are well combined.
- further to prepare the slurry, mix 1 tbsp corn flour in half cup water.
- cook until the slurry turns glossy.
- add in fried pasta, 4 tbsp cabbage, ½ carrot and 2 tbsp spring onion.
- mix well making sure everything is well combined.
- finally, enjoy pasta manchurian topped with more spring onions.

notes:
- firstly, do not over boil the pasta, as it turns mushy and will not be crispy while frying.
- also, you can prepare dry or gravy manchurian by adding cornflour slurry as required.
- also, make sure to prepare the manchurian just before serving as it thickens once cooled.
- finally, pasta chilli manchurian recipe tastes great when prepared slightly spicy.
